CHATSWORTH, Calif. — New Sensations and Digital Sin garnered 42 XBIZ Award nominations for the 2014 event on Jan. 24 at the Century Plaza Hotel.
The companies received nominations in categories including Studio of the Year, Feature Movie of the Year, Gonzo Release of the Year, All Sex Release of the Year, All Sex Series of the Year, Vignette Release of the Year, All Girl Release of the Year, Director of the Year (feature and non-feature), Screenplay of the Year, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Scene, Best Editing, Best Interracial Release, Best Asian-Themed Release, and Best Feminist Porn Release.
The wide range of categories in which New Sensations/Digital Sin were nominated is a testament to the diversity that exists within the company, president Scott Taylor said.
"New Sensations/Digital Sin strives to deliver high quality content whether we're producing a feature film or an all-sex release," he said. "The care and attention that goes into each product we release is evident every step of the way from pre-production to post-production. Receiving so many award nominations in a variety of categories really validates our efforts as a studio."
The annual red-carpet ceremony will honor top achievements across every segment of the industry during the past year.
With an expanded list of more than 150 award categories, the 2014 finalist nominees list represents the most expansive array of categories in the history of the XBIZ Awards.
Leading for New Sensations/Digital Sin in nominations were films from the studio's 2013 debut of the Erotic Stories Collection - "The Submission of Emma Marx" and "The Temptation of Eve.
“My boss (Scott Taylor) wanted NS to explore various themes," said Jacky St. James, writer and co-director of "Emma Marx." "These included not only the Romance Series, The Couples Series, The Swinger Series, but also The Erotic Stories Collection. The focus on this series is much edgier than its counterparts."
She continued, "With 'The Submission of Emma Marx,' I delved into the psychological aspects of a BDSM relationship as opposed to more commonly portrayed physical one. There is a complexity to sexuality that goes beyond just the physical and these new series from New Sensations really allow us to explore that."
New Sensations' decision to expand their narrative genre proved successful as "The Submission of Emma Marx" remains one of the studio's top sellers this year.
Other notable films recognized by XBIZ for multiple awards this year were "The Gangbang of Bonnie Rotten," which was also Rotten's first gangbang on camera, "The Innocence of Youth 6" and Digital Sin's illicit all-sex series, "Tabu Tales: Family Business." The latter consists of vignettes which explore a variety of sordid relationships within the family unit. In addition, "Against Her Will 2," the studio's provocative all-girl feature release, earned a nomination.
