SAN FRANCISCO — The historic Mitchell Brothers O’Farrell Theatre (MBOT) will host an open-to-the-public screening party on Oct. 19 for “Vivid Entertainment’s “The New Behind The Green Door," the company announced today.
The Paul Thomas-directed film will be screened at the Cine Stage in the theater where MBOT dancers will perform an original show dedicated to the movie at 10 p.m., prior to the film’s showing.
Star of the film, Brooklyn Lee, will be the special in-person guest at the screening along with Dana DeArmond and Steven St. Croix. Afterward, the stars will meet and greet fans, sign autographs, and give away signed DVD copies of the movie.
Vivid said it expects the new film to be a best seller along with its other classic 1970s remakes from “The Golden Age of Porn” that includes “Debbie Does Dallas,” “Deep Throat,” and “The Devil in Miss Jones."
The studio noted that the original “Behind the Green Door” movie starring Marilyn Chambers premiered at the O’Farrell Theatre in 1972. Vivid’s remake includes bonus footage showing Chambers’ daughter, McKenna Taylor, visiting the famous location and talking about her mother.
“We feel that our remakes are not only a tribute to the originals but help introduce them to new generations of fans,” Steven Hirsch, founder/co- chairman of Vivid, said. “We’re delighted that Mitchell Brothers is hosting this screening as the title will always be associated with San Francisco and the O’Farrell Theatre.”
