LOS ANGELES — XBIZ is pleased to announce New Sensations founder Scott Taylor as its 2014 Visionary Keynote for its upcoming adult film conference, one of seven events scheduled to be held in tandem with the XBIZ 360° events series that will bring together members of the industry and media from around the world to explore the future of the multi-billion-dollar adult industry. Scheduled for Jan. 22-25, XBIZ has taken over the entire property of W Hollywood Hotel, making XBIZ 360° the most exclusive, all-encompassing trade show in industry history.
The conferences will culminate with the industry’s awards event of the year, the 2014 XBIZ Awards, presented by Fleshlight, with Jenna Jameson as its master of ceremonies.
Taylor is the founder of companies such as New Sensations, Digital Sin, NS Novelties and National/Universal. He also co-founded Digital Playground in 1993 and serves as acting president for Fantasy Lingerie.
Some of Taylor's most notable achievements at the helm of adult film studio New Sensations include creating the widely acclaimed Romance Series of couples movies; producing top-selling parodies that have generated national media attention including “The Sex Files: A XXX Parody,” “Star Trek TNG: A XXX Parody,” and “The Big Lebowski: A XXX Parody”; and the creation of the first interactive DVD format—the “Virtual Sex With” series—during his time at Digital Playground.
The first of his "Virtual Sex" series was a project he wrote and directed for Jenna Jameson. The title was originally a CD-Rom-based product that was ported over to DVD. When Taylor started Digital Sin, he used the full capabilities of the DVD format to create the "My Plaything" series, working with Jameson twice in that line.
Dan Miller, the executive managing editor for XBIZ, remarked, “Scott has been leading the industry by example for more than 20 years now. He is without question one of the most influential figures in our business and we’re humbled that he has agreed to keynote our 2014 event.”
Taylor has been the creative force behind companies that are recognized not only for their product quality, but also versatility. In recent times, New Sensations' groundbreaking efforts in 2012 led to 10 awards at the 2013 XBIZ Awards in January, including: Studio of the Year, All Sex Series of the Year (“Pretty Dirty”), Couples Themed Release of the Year (“Torn”), Couples Themed Line of the Year (The Romance Series), Director of the Year (Eddie Powell), Best Actor in a Feature (Steven St. Croix for “Torn”), Best Actress in a Couples Themed Release (Remy LaCroix for “Torn”), Best Actor in a Couples Themed Release (Richie Calhoun for “Love Marriage and Other Bad Ideas”), Best Actress All-Girls Release (Sheridan Love for “Against Her Will”), and Screenplay of the Year (Jacky St. James for “Torn”).
“I am very honored to have been asked to keynote the adult film conference at XBIZ 360°,” Taylor said. “I hope to cover a variety of topics and theories that have helped my companies thrive over the years.”
The conference explores every major area of the constantly evolving business of adult movie creation and distribution. Subjects will include genre trends and analysis of the latest technological advances, such as the new 4k screen resolutions on the horizon.
The next edition of the conference will also feature in-depth discussions about the changing landscape for porn performers and how up-and-coming and established talent are adapting in today's digital-driven era.
The event would not be complete without tackling legal issues facing producers and performers today, so XBIZ will engage the industry's top law experts for their insights on the current environment and latest developments.
In addition, the conference will offer timely analysis of trends related to content distribution, taking the pulse of delivery platforms such as IPTV, mobile, VOD, and the still profitable DVD market; the media landscape, and the future of adult film from the perspective of top studio heads.
“It's a true honor to present Scott Taylor as our visionary keynote,” said Alec Helmy, founder and publisher of XBIZ. “With his unique vision, creative flair, marketing savvy, and unique approach to heading his wide range of companies, Scott embodies all of what a top business leader ought to be.”
In addition to exploring the future of adult film, XBIZ 360° will feature related conferences individually devoted to the online/Internet, retail and pleasure products markets — providing the most comprehensive showcase of industry insights in the world.
Highlighting the week will be the 2014 XBIZ Awards show that will honor the industry's best across more than 150 award categories—spotlighting outstanding achievements in Movie Production, Pleasure Products, Digital Media and Retail & Distribution.
