LAS VEGAS — It could be rabbit redux if the buzz about Playboy hopping back to Las Vegas with a new nightclub at the Palms Hotel & Casino is true.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that there are new talks to revive the Club that closed its doors in the Palm’s Fantasy Tower in June of 2012 after what was called an amicable split between Playboy and the management firm n9NE (NINE) Group.
Although there was no official word as to why the Club was shuttered, speculation was that the venue didn't have the legendary cache' of the brand and apparently didn't resonate strongly enough with the Palms' younger clientele.
But now, sources close to the paper said Playboy wants to get back to Vegas.
“Conversations continue but there are no immediate plans to announce,” Teri Thomerson, public relations director for Playboy Enterprises Inc., said.
Another Playboy spokesperson neither confirmed nor denied the possibility but told XBIZ that Playboy Enterprises does not have anything further to add beyond the statement from Thomerson.
The Playboy Vegas venue opened its doors at the Palms in 2006 and was the first Playboy Club to open since 1988.
According to the Review-Journal, the reborn Playboy Club will have a new look.
Playboy currently has Clubs operating in Macau, Cancun and London.
