VENICE, Italy — After being rejected by Sundance and SXSW, the Crowndfunded uberhyped “post theatrical” feature “The Canyons” will make its international debut at the Venice Film Festival tomorrow at 10:15 p.m.
While the film is screening “out of competition,” its director and Hollywood familiar Paul Schrader will head the international jury for the festival’s Horizons sidebar.
Schrader, author of critically acclaimed films “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull,” will be standing close beside legendary Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, who was selected as the head of the main-competition jury.
Written by “American Psycho” and “Less than Zero” author Bret Easton Ellis, “The Canyons,” stars Lindsay Lohan, Gus Van Sant and crossover porn superstar James Deen in an erotic noir thriller about "youth, glamour, sex and surveillance."
Ellis Tweeted today that he was strolling about the festival grounds with Deen and his girlfriend, Stoya.
The 70th edition of the Venice Film Festival began August 28 and will run until Sept. 7. For more information about the festival, including the event schedule, click here.
