LOS ANGELES – Baci Lingerie offered XBIZ a sneak peak of its soon-to-be-released corset collection while on-location for a photo shoot in a lux Hollywood Hills abode.
The 23-piece collection, dubbed “Corsets by Baci,” features well-crafted and fashion runway inspired ready-to-wear styles, as well as classic bedroom styles. According to Baci Lingerie director of sales and operations Alicia Sinclair, the shoot was to capture “magical scenes” of female empowerment of their sexuality.
“The theme here is we wanted to create lingerie photos that put the girl in charge,” Sinclair told XBIZ. “ I want to show women that embody being sexy for nobody else but themselves.”
Sharing her vision was photographer Josh Ryan, who Sinclair met after five years of admiring his work online.
“I loved the look of his photos, they were really intimate,” Sinclair said. “It seems like he captures moments that are really personal. We started talking and finally it all came together.”
Baci’s corset collection imagery will feature Ashley Harris, a newcomer to the fashion world.
“From the minute I saw her I knew she was our girl,” Sinclair said. “She’s stunning and her attitude is so gracious.”
The Corsets by Baci collection consists of four sets, each with different inspirations.
“The fall/winter has metallic and suit inspirations; leather and suede – things that you would typically associate with fall fashion,” Sinclair said. “Valentine’s has classic lace and satin. Spring/summer has a lot of denim and reversible pieces. Bridal is ivory and blue.
“We have an amazing stylist for the shoot,” she added. “She’s styling looks to show how they can be worn from daytime to the bedroom. I think it’s really going to take corsets somewhere they haven’t been before.”
The designs in the collection were created through collaboration between Sinclair and designer Sonia Elise Raaste. “
The line has so many unique designs from floral denim to menswear-inspired corsets,” Raaste told XBIZ. “It was a lot of work to develop prototypes that were the perfect fit, get all the details right and give it all the value.”
The corsets feature steel boning that create the silhouette that women are looking for when purchasing a corset, Sinclair said.
“Our goal was to create a line that’s fashionable, trendy and … sexy,” she said. “This is a medium price point corset line – not bustiers, which people often confuse for corsets. Real corsets have boning. Originally it was called that because they were made from whale bones – fast forward to this point in time when most manufacturers produce them a lot cheaper with plastic.
“We’d been hearing that from a lot of our partners internationally, that they wanted something that was higher quality and with a higher price point to differentiate the lines,” Sinclair said. “We kept getting requests for corsets. I interviewed a lot of designers and I wanted to find someone that enjoyed designing corsets – not just a designer and ask them to design a line. Sonia has made corsets at home and had a lot of great ideas. When I brought her in it was a collaboration between the two of us.”
The fall/winter and Valentine’s Day sets will be shown at the International Lingerie Show next month in Las Vegas and at eroFame in Germany. They will be ready to ship to partners within the next 45-60 days, Sinclair said.
