SAN FRANCISCO — After nurturing her Slippery Kitty lubricant line for 12 years, adult author and publisher Dr. Sadie Allison has revamped its look and formula; she says it’s “been a long time coming.”
The new bottle is modern and sleek and sports a new semi-transparent label that Allison said cost her a pretty penny.
“I actuallty invested a lot in these labels,” she told XBIZ. “I could have gone cheaper, but I wanted it to look cool, visually stimulatuing. They’ll look great on the shelves, especially for impulse buys.”
According to Allison, she trolled the aisles of Good Vibrations in San Francisco and other sex shops to scope out the look of other lube bottles and found that they “all kind of blend together.”
“Mine are totally going to stand out,” she said enthusistically.
But Slippery Kitty’s makeover extends well beyond the label. It now features an upgraded formula, free of parabens and glycerin, something Allison said was a “huge step” for her company. Her inspiration: consumer welfare and ethical accountability.
“There’s a lot of body-conscious women out there, like more than ever women are asking and wanting to know what they’re putting in their bodies,” she said. “So I wanted to be respectful of that and conscious of that, and for the type of brand that Tickle Kitty is, and the people I market to, I felt that putting out a more quality product that does not have those elements was the right thing.”
The rebranded and revamped line of Slippery Kitty personal lubricants will begin shipping Sept. 1 through all major U.S. distributors. It will be available in several different variations, including strawberry flavored and “au naturel.”
Tickle Kitty Founder Allison is author and publisher of a line of how-to sex-help books, including “Tickle His Pickle,” “TOYGASMS!,” “Ride 'Em Cowgirl!,” "Tickle Your Fancy" and her latest "Tickle My Tush.” She will be giving a presentation tentatively called "Orgasm: The Last Frontier of Female Empowerment" at TEDx Golden Gate Park’s The Passion Project on Oct. 9.
