SAN FRANCISCO — Sex-positive startup GetPure Inc. has announced its plans to rollout its new invite-only app “Pure” once it gets approval from Apple.
“Pure is about giving men and women freedom and choice. It can be as romantic or as practical as its users choose to make it,” the company says.
Formatted in a Grinder-esque fashion, the app lets users find local partners to meet, for sex or for a purely romantic rendezvous. The app functions using clear visual absolutes, letting users select whether they’d like to “Host” or “Travel” and whether they’re interested in a prospective mate with the choices “Yes” or “No Way.”
Although the app’s creators say it “is anonymous, nonjudgmental, liberating and has been designed to be used by anyone, regardless of sexual orientation or preferences,” the manifesto plays up a non-monogamous angle.
The online manifesto begins, “Our core tenet is that no one person should have to be everything for another. We believe it’s natural for someone to feel a powerful sense of attachment to a long term partner, while experiencing romantic love for somebody else and at the same time feeling sexually attracted to a diverse range of people.”
The app is currently available in two platforms: heterosexual and gay male. The website site can be viewed in English or Russian.
GetPure is the brainchild of two entrepreneurs from the former USSR, inspired and advised by Good Vibrations’ resident sexologist Dr. Carol Queen. The duo says GetPure’s vision, like that of Good Vibrations, supports “the principles of the sex-positive movement, which promotes and embraces open sexuality, with few limits beyond an emphasis on safe sex and the importance of informed consent.”
