LOS ANGELES — James Deen, the 2013 XBIZ Male Performer of the Year, is the subject of an in-depth profile in the U.K. edition of Esquire in which the publication refers to him as "The Ryan Gosling of Porn."
"Adult entertainment’s biggest male star is the first of a new breed: a soulful, sensitive, soft eyed boy next door who also happens to bang blondes for a living," the introduction reads.
Writer Sanjiv Bhattacharya interviewed Deen in his hometown of Pasadena, on the set of AMKingdom's "Saving Humanity," and on location at a Digital Playground Robby D. shoot.
“I’m not a dude’s dude,” Deen told Esquire. “I don’t like sports, I’ve never done a keg stand.”
Deen talks about "the science of wine," his love of cartoons and how he never plans to leave the porn industry.
The writer also interviewed author-screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote Deen's first mainstream star vehicle "The Canyons" which premieres today in New York.
Ellis said that Deen was "the least neurotic, most professional person on that set." He also revealed that Deen declined his invitation to this year's Vanity Fair Oscar party because he had a porn shoot.
