CALGARY, Canada — JuicyAds has made a $1,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to benefit flood relief efforts in Calgary and southern Alberta.
Recent floods in Calgary have forced residents to relocate from the western Canadian city. The disaster has also claimed several lives in Alberta.
JuicyAds founder Juicy Jay was personally affected; his family was among those most recently evacuated from Calgary.
“The police came to evacuate them. They couldn't take anything, their truck wouldn't start and they fled on foot, the floodwater water chasing them,” Jay said, adding that other family members were “lucky enough to salvage some belongings before escaping the dangerous floodwaters.”
Water has inundated homes and businesses and swamped cars and train tracks in downtown Calgary. Nearby communities in Alberta have also been impacted.
Juicy Jay plans to tour the damage of the city next week.
The Canada-based company’s donation will fund the distribution of relief materials like water and basic personal supplies for those whose homes and possessions were damaged and destroyed, as well as cleaning kits for volunteers helping with the rebuilding efforts.
“It is so important for us to do what we can to provide aid to those currently affected by this disaster in Calgary,” Jay said. “We are pleased that we can help and encourage others companies to do what they can as well. Our thoughts are with those affected by the tragedy.”
