The information was released in an effort to further highlight what Thai government officials perceive as a national social problem that has opened the gateway for cyber crime and hackers.
The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology has launched a cyber inspector to find and block so-called “obscene” websites and ones that it believes can endanger national security.
The National Telecommunications Commission also announced plans to work alongside the Department of Special Investigation in tracking adult websites and their connection to hacking and phishing schemes.
In previous reports, ICT Ministry expressed a need to get a firmer grasp on the growing number of porn sites and begin enforcing laws and regulations to curb that growth.
The ministry acknowledged, however, that adult websites registered in other countries but run from provinces in Thailand cannot be penalized under current law.
The ICT Ministry has so far redirected thousands of websites to its cyber inspector, which informs Internet users they have reached a blocked site.
