LOS ANGELES — Cutting Edge Testing has decided to offer free hepatitis B and C screening as part of their basic panel; Talent Testing Services welcomes the initiative.
“As a further insight to this program, we encourage CET and all other APHSS-participating facilities to only use FDA cleared whole blood donor grade reagents for this type of screening,” said Sixto Pacheco, president and CEO of TTS. “This is very important in assuring that all talent tests provide the same baseline in clearing talent and resetting the health statistics.”
As part of the TTS Health Awareness Month, the industry basic panel test will include HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis (plus the TREP-SURE-EIA), as well as both hepatitis B and C.
Testing will be offered in more than 300 locations, with a 24-hour turnaround.
According to the CDC and American Cancer Society, viral hepatitis is a leading infectious cause of death in the U.S. The majority of liver cancers in the world are attributable to chronic infections of hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Primary prevention of hepatitis B infection includes vaccination. Hepatitis C infection is potentially preventable through public health measures, including screenings.
