NEW YORK — Adult star and filmmaker Brittany Andrews has teamed up with director Dan Frank and Upward Rising Development to screen their gritty rock & roll film "Speed Dragon” during the Cannes Film Festival.
The world premiere will take place on May 17 at 4 p.m at Palais E. The film will have an additional screening on May 21 at 2 p.m. at Gray 5.
Described as the destruction of a famous rock star —with the record label executives pulling all of the strings — Andrews said “The film is very much a rock and roll drama like Sid & Nancy meets Spun, but a lot more intense.”
Starring in the movie is Bai Ling, best known for her role opposite Richard Gere in “Red Corner,” and newcomer DJ Parker. The film also has appearances by adult legend Ron Jeremy, along with Carlos Ramirez, Burgandi Phoenix and Mimi Miyagi. Andrews plays the role of Spice in the film.
The film was written and produced by Dan Frank, who recently won awards with his critically acclaimed documentaries “Medicinal 101” and “Frank & Chip: The Olympic Experience.” Frank previously worked with Andrews on her award winning reality web series “My Real Porn Life.”
Andrews herself has won more than 15 awards from various film festivals for her mainstream film and TV projects she has produced during the last three years. “I feel very fortunate to have Brittany Andrews as a part of Speed Dragon,” Frank said. “Brittany really brought her A-game as producer and actress. Helping with the overall look and direction of the movie, Brittany also helped cast the select lead, DJ Parker, and brought on Ron Jeremy. I couldn't have shot the film in New York without her help. Brittany’s performance of Spice is one of the best in the movie.”
The film will screen in the U.S. later this year with dates to be announced shortly.
