LELO Smart Wand Wins 2013 Red Dot Design Award

SAN JOSE, Calif. — For the second year in a row, Swedish designer brand LELO was awarded the Red Dot Design Award for Excellence in Product Design.

The honor was bestowed upon LELO’s Smart Wand Cordless Body Massager, the chicly-designed, all-over body massager powered by LELO’s own SenseTouch technology.

Regarded as the highest honor in product design,

With more than 4,500 products vying for this year’s prize, the Red Dot award is regarded as a high honor in product design and earns LELO’s Smart Wand a place in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany.

Singled out by the Red Dot Design Committee, this year’s judges included famed fashion designer Jimmy Choo, as well as representatives from a number of world-renowned brands. The Smart Wand will be officially crowned at the Red Dot Design Awards Ceremony on July 1 in Essen, Germany.

“We were all thrilled to receive our first Red Dot Award for Tiani 2 last year, but this is even better since we’re the only company in the industry to win two Red Dots in a row,” said LELO USA Sales and Marketing Director Donna Faro. “To be singled out by names like Jimmy Choo, one of the most well-known designers in fashion, is an attribute to LELO’s ongoing commitment to luxury and style.”

The LELO Smart Wand, powered by SenseTouch technology, features touch sensors that allow vibration strength to increase upon contact with the skin, mimicking the sensations of a massage therapist. Equipped with integral, rechargeable Li-ion batteries that emit whisper-quiet vibrations, the Smart Wand has been dubbed the most powerful fully-waterproof and rechargeable cordless body massager in the world, the company said.

The Red Dot Award is already LELO’s fourth major award win this year. The worldwide leader in designer intimate lifestyle products previously received honors for Pleasure Product Company of the Year and Excellence in Product Packaging at January’s XBIZ Awards, as well as Best Product Line for Women for its Insignia line at the AVN Awards in January.
