Alana Evans Joins Cast of Stage Play 'The Deep Throat Sex Scandal'

LOS ANGELES — Veteran adult star Alana Evans has joined the cast of “'The Deep Throat Sex Scandal,” the Off-Broadway play that will continue its West Coast engagement tonight at The Zephyr Theatre on Melrose Avenue.

Evans is the latest adult actress to be cast as a guest performer in the role of the ticket taker for the play, which was written by David Bertolino and is directed by Jerry Douglas. She follows previous guest performers such as Jasmine St. Claire and Nina Hartley, while fellow classic stars Veronica Hart and Herschel Savage are part of the permanent cast.

Evans, who is in her 15th year in porn, said she that she unexpectedly landed the opportunity through a friend.

“It was a fan who has seen the play and knows the writer, and they were asking about who we should put in the play next, and I was recommended,” Evans said Thursday. “And before we knew it, it was 11 o’clock at night and I was on the phone with the writer, laughing and joking and I had already gotten the part. I’m so excited about this. I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Evans will take the stage tonight through Sunday at the Zephyr, located at 7456 Melrose Ave. Each performance begins at 8, except for Sunday when the play starts at 7 p.m.

“The character is a fun, sassy role,” Evans continued. “They have been having the different performers play the role, but at the same time we each play the character differently."

Evans said she grew up participating in community theatre, but has never done anything like this as an adult.

“The stage is nothing new to me, but not at this level. So it’s really exciting,” she said, adding that doing the rehearsal brought back fond memories. “It really made me, awkwardly enough, feel like a kid again.”

Evans said that even her parents and in-laws all have stories about going to see the controversial, iconic adult film "Deep Throat” in the theater in the early 1970s.

“Talking to them about it made me realize how big of a deal it was at the time,” Evans said. “And how big of a deal obscenity was at the time. It gave me such an appreciation for this.”

Tickets are available at the theatre box office or they can be purchased at deepthroattheplay.com.
