CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Smash Pictures has set a May 16 release date for its new romantic feature "Broken Hearts," starring Remy LaCroix, Mischa Brooks and Richie Calhoun.
Set and shot in San Francisco and Los Angeles by director Jim Powers, the film follows Calhoun to Frisco where he discovers the woman he loves is already married.
Heartbroken and distraught, he returns to L.A. and meets a woman who is also recovering from a soul-crushing breakup. A bond quickly forms, but trust issues make it difficult to love once again.
"Everything fell into place for us," Smash Pictures Vice President Stuart Wall told XBIZ. "Jim and his crew flew up to San Francisco, along with Richie Calhoun, to capture all the landmarks — Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge and more."
Wall said that even the weather appeared to be working in Smash's favor during their visit to the city by the bay.
"It was a cloudy and rainy day when we arrived at Remy's hometown," Wall said. "We had to buy raincoats and umbrellas, which actually added to the romantic touch of the shoot. Two hours later, the skies cleared up and it turned into a beautiful day.
"We feel fans are really going to enjoy this film because it captures the real life approach and energy of the city."
"Broken Hearts" wrapped last week in Los Angeles. The film co-stars Abby Cross, Ash Hollywood, Kennedy Leigh, Dane Cross, Logan Pierce and Danny Wylde.
