LOS ANGELES — Film production company DOOM Incorporated is in pre-production for a new feature film based on the life of Golden Age adult performer Vanessa del Rio.
The film is set against the backdrop of organized crime-controlled Times Square during the 70s and 80s.
Thomas Mignone, the director of the dark sexual drama "On the Doll," is set to helm the project.
Filming will be done in both Los Angeles and New York. Producer for the film is Sean Fernald. The script, written by Mignone, depicts del Rio and the wild times she had versus the changing social morals of the times.
The company said the storyline portrays its female lead protagonist as a strong, confident woman.
Casting is underway to find the lead actress able to portray the young, rebellious del Rio. Producers are looking for someone who exudes an insatiable enthusiasm for all things sexual, yet with a poignancy and depth reflecting the way her lifestyle influences the relationships with her parents, friends and the unsavory mobsters running Times Square with an iron fist.
Consultants for the project are Bill Margold, Cass Paley and del Rio herself.
The film’s official website includes a new Indiegogo crowd funding video featuring interviews with del Rio and Mignone.
