LOS ANGELES — Vivid Entertainment has stopped distribution of late country star Mindy McCready’s “Baseball Mistress” sex tape in the wake of her apparent suicide.
McCready died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in her Arkansas home on Monday. She was 37.
TMZ reported that Vivid co-founder and chairman Steve Hirsch said the DVD freeze is effective at once and will continue indefinitely with no plans to resume distribution.
The controversial tape surfaced in 2010 and featured the country star displaying her sexual talents with an ex-boyfriend and describing the sexual performance of major league baseball star Roger Clemens.
Vivid acquired the footage from a third party and released it under the Vivid-Celeb line despite a “cease and desist” letter sent by McCready’s attorney, claiming it had all of the necessary legal documentation.
Hirsch said that he also plans to pull all digital copies of the tape from Vivid’s website as soon as possible.
