LOS ANGELES — Jon Millward, a specialist writer who investigates "areas of life that have intriguing psychology," has published an in-depth study of 10,000 porn stars based on data culled from the Internet Adult Film Database (IAFD).
Titled "Deep Inside: A Study of 10,000 Porn Stars and Their Careers," Millward's research finds trends and averages with performers' hair colors, races, birthplaces, stage names and the movie genres in which they appear, among other things.
He finds that "dark-haired porn stars outnumber blonde ones almost 2-to-1." The first name "Nikki" and the last name "Lee" are the most common stage names for female porn stars; and 87% of all female porn stars "take a facial" at least once in their career.
"For the first time, a massive data set of 10,000 porn stars has been extracted from the world’s largest database of adult films and performers," Millward writes in introducing the study. "I’ve spent the last six months analyzing it to discover the truth about what the average performer looks like, what they do on film, and how their role has evolved over the last forty years."
Millward also has published research on online dating, the last words from death row prisoners and escorts.
