CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Smash Pictures has added Tommy Pistol to its director roster, XBIZ has learned.
Studio vice president Stuart Wall said Pistol will write and shoot an original scripted zombie movie titled “It’s a Hard World.” Production is scheduled to begin the end of February or early March.
“I had the chance to watch Tommy’s mainstream independent horror film, ‘The Gruesome Death of Tommy Pistol’ and I was impressed with his skills. After talking daily in Vegas, Dan Quinn and I felt Tommy would be a perfect addition to our Smash roster of directors," Wall said.
Pistol told XBIZ, "I'm really excited to start showing everyone my full range of talents and grateful that Smash is giving me a chance to do it on this level."
Rising star Bonnie Rotten will top line the cast, with the remaining performers to be chosen next week. Wall said both he and Pistol agreed that Rotten would be perfect for the film.
Rotten commented, "This is so appropriate for me as an avid horror fan. Knowing that Tommy is also a horror fan makes this project so special because we are harnessing old school horror and molding it into something delightfully dirty. When Tommy called me I was so stoked — Bonnie Rotten is a zombie after all. My pin up zombie alter ego is tattooed on the back of my right thigh. What a cool project to be my first feature film. This is going to be amazing."
Pistol won the 2012 XBIZ Acting Performance of the Year – Male award for his dramatic role as Travis Bickle in Pleasure Dynasty’s “Taxi Driver: A XXX Parody.”
