LOS ANGELES — The last in a string of period-parody trailers for director Paul Schrader and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis' "The Canyons" has gone online.
The 50-second teaser is is shot in black-and-white and presented as a '30s-inspired comedy. The film is toplined by Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen, in his Hollywood debut.
"The Canyons" tells the tale of young, wealthy Los Angelenos caught up in a life of excess. Deen plays arrogant trust fund baby and film producer Christian. Lohan is his girlfriend Tara, a former model willing to subject herself to Christian's abuse for the comforts he provides.
Deen, who is nominated for Crossover Star of the Year at the upcoming 2013 XBIZ Awards, was handpicked by Ellis ("American Psycho," "Less Than Zero") to star in Schrader's ("American Gigolo," "Cat People") film.
The Canyons" is produced by Braxton Pope ("Penny Dreadful") and costars Nolan Funk ("House at the End of the Street"), Amanda Brooks ("Chillerama") and director Gus Van Sant ("Milk," "Good Will Hunting").
