Daniel Smart, 33, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Shreveport, La.
A raid of Smart’s home by local authorities in the summer of 2005, lead to the seizure of thousands of videos depicting bestiality and various violent sex acts.
Louisiana State Police Trooper Doug Pierrelee told XBIZ in August that authorities received an email tip from someone who recognized a “girl” on Smart’s Cyberentertainment website. According to authorities, the “girl” in question was named Kinky Celine on the website. The tipster feared that Celine would be killed as part of a “snuff film,” authorities said.
According to Pierrelee, the state police could have arrested Smart right away but elected to help federal authorities build a case against him in light of evidence that demonstrated that he was distributing his illegal content around the world.
Homeland Security agent James Podboy confirmed allegations of Smart’s worldwide distribution operation, testifying in a preliminary hearing that authorities had intercepted videos sent by Smart to Canada, England and Thailand.
According to Pierrelee, Smart was making upwards of $40,000 a month from videos sold through his website, raking in more than $2 million over seven years.
Smart could face up to five years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 3.
There were no allegations of child pornography involved in the case.
