LOS ANGELES — Porn's top agents and their clients are the focus of a special entertainment piece printed in the Nov. 23 issue of The Hollywood Reporter, now posted on THR.com.
Written by Daniel Miller, "When the Clients Are Porn Stars" explores the day-to-day dealings and contract negotiations adult talent agencies handle for some of porn's biggest stars.
The piece features interviews with Derek Hay of L.A. Direct Models, Mark Spiegler of Spiegler Girls, XBIZ Managing Editor Dan Miller and porn stars Asa Akira, Andy San Dimas, Kristina Rose, Tori Black, James Deen and others.
The report also takes a look at porn star crossovers such as Sasha Grey's work for Steven Soderbergh ("Girlfriend Experience"), Sunny Leone's Bollywood takeover ("Jism 2") and Deen's Hollywood feature film debut "The Canyons."
Spiegler tells THR, "I remember telling [Sasha Grey] one time on the phone: 'To be honest, you may outgrow this business. I'm a licensed agent like the same in Hollywood, but I know what I know and I know what I don't know, so at some point you may have to move on.' "
Not all porn stars, however, aspire to reach mainstream success.
"I don't like to do bad stuff," Deen says in the THR video. "I never want to do "Transformers" and I never want to these blockbusters movies that are just god-awful crap. I don't want to do these horrible, horrible movies."
In addition to "When the Clients Are Porn Stars," THR also takes a look at "Porn's Biggest Porn Crossover Stars" and "The Reluctant Crossover," an interview with Deen, in its Nov. 23 issue, available now.
