NEW YORK — To showcase the release of their new book, BDSM and alternative sexuality educators Lee Harrington and Mollena will be presenting a “Taboo Play and Working Through Extremes” workshop at the Den of Iniquity in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
The workshop will explore the reasons some people enjoy play that is extremely edgy psychologically, emotionally and physically, as well as how to make that fantasy a reality before, during and after play.
Discussion will include communication, negotiation, how to manage risk, how to support your play partner, ways to avoid some common pitfalls and the level of responsibility of all partners involved.
“A great deal of what we do in BDSM is about risk, is about pushing boundaries,” Mollena said. “That draws and seduces those of us who are curious about what lies just beyond the horizon of our consciousness. Scary? Yes. Tempting? Absolutely. We want to take a closer look at what scares us, what haunts us, and how we can navigate those emotional borderlands while keeping it hot and as safe as possible!”
The LA workshop is part of a national 16-city whistle-stop tour by Harrington and Mollena. The tour will feature various workshops ranging from classes for the shy, to those more experienced in their fetish, including rope and taboo play, with a focus on communication and negotiation.
The tour also showcases their recent book, “Playing Well With Others: Your Field Guide to Discovering, Exploring and Navigating the Kink, Leather and BDSM Communities.”
More information about the book, as well as tour dates and locations, can be found here.
“There is something delicious about exploring the shadowed parts of our spirit,” Harrington said. “Those things that hide out at the edges of sexual desire and whisper to us in the middle of the night. By glimpsing into the shadow, we can learn something new about ourselves… find a new part of our inner truths.”
