BARCELONA — Private Media Group officials started sending out letters last week to distributors of Bluebird-branded content, notifying them about a recent court ruling that reinstates a three-year-old exclusive distribution agreement.
The letter, obtained by XBIZ, includes a copy of a September court judgment that spells out terms of Private's win at Los Angeles Superior Court, as well as a Bluebird press release that announced the original Private-Bluebird deal and a list of 279 Bluebird videos that are at the heart of the judgment.
Private, in the letter signed by its general counsel, says that the reinstated exclusive deal includes all platforms of distribution, including DVD, Internet, IPTV and mobile.
Distribution of Bluebird content can continue but that all payments to Bluebird or its affiliates must cease immediately, Private said, emphasizing that all fees for licenses or goods relating to Bluebird-branded content or its back catalog should be directed to Private to satisfy the judgment.
The letter asks recipients to contact Private counsel in Barcelona within 10 business days.
Bluebird in 2006 entered the adult arena to become the U.K.'s largest adult company with two sprawling studios in North America and Europe, including five soundstages where the company made use of state-of-the-art HD equipment.
But earlier this year, its owner, Paul Baxendale, said he was moving away from the business of adult production, saying that he would focus on his newly acquired lad publication, Loaded.
