HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — More than 50 percent of Americans surveyed in a new Adam & Eve study said they have had a one night stand.
The surprising results were tallied from 1,000 respondents and showed that 58.1 percent admitted to a “no-strings-attached sexual encounter.”
Of these positive respondents, 79 percent were male and 21 percent were female.
Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve’s resident sexpert, said the results are higher than expected, though not alarming.
“There are many reasons people choose to have a one night stand,” Dr. Kat said. “From exploring one’s sexuality to a random hook-up outside a relationship… as long as both partners have the same expectations, a one night stand can be a positive release of sexual energy. Of course, safety is always a top priority.”
The web-based survey was conducted by an independent third party survey company of more than 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, and was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
