HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Film star Uma Thurman may have a hardcore sex scene in controversial director Lars von Trier’s film, “Nymphomaniac.”
Thurman has signed on in an unspecified role, but according to reports she’s ready to do the nasty in the movies that will be released in both softcore and hardcore versions.
The real onscreen sex between the stars in the film caused a buzz last summer adding to the controversial aura of von Trier whose infamous works include “Antichrist,” and “Melancholia.” The auteur was also bashed for making comments about him understanding and sympathizing with Adolf Hitler at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
Dubbed “an epic pornographic drama,” the movie stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who recounts her erotic life to “True Blood” star Stellan Skarsgard after he finds her beaten in an alley.
Joining Thurman and Skarsgard are actors Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Stacy Martin, Connie Nielsen and Christian Slater.
There’s no doubt the movie will be sexually explicit. According to the Hollywood Reporter, LaBeouf sent von Trier actual sex tapes of him and his girlfriend in an effort to land the role.
"[The movie] is what you think it is,” Beouf told MTV. “ It is Lars von Trier, making a movie about what he's making. For instance, there's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we're doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we'll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening."
But true porn hounds may be disappointed unless the titillation of seeing Hollywood stars having sex onscreen is the draw.
Co-star Skarsgard told the Hollywood Reporter, "When we call this a porno, it's meant ironically but irony doesn't work well in print. The film is sexually explicit but, believe me, it will be a very, very bad wanking movie."
The film is currently being shot in Cologne, Germany and is scheduled for a 2013 release.
