NEW YORK — A patent holding company has re-filed an infringement suit against Manwin-owned Digital Playground.
Joao Control and Monitoring Systems last week filed the suit against Digital Playground over patents relating to video delivery, including transmission through live cams on JesseJane.com.
The suit alleges that Digital Playground infringes on U.S. Patent No. 6,587,046 as well as U.S. Patent No. 7,277,010.
Joao Control in February served Digital Playground with the same infringement suit, but later voluntarily dismissed the case in federal court in Los Angeles. It re-filed the case at federal court in New York, where it operates its business, on Friday.
Patent holding company Joao Control is owned by Yonkers, N.Y., patent attorney Raymond Joao, who owns a wide variety of patents, reportedly over 100.
Joao Control is no stranger to filing suits against the online adult entertainment biz. Other adult companies, including GameLink, WebcamNow, PlayDollsXXX and GlobalSexMall, have been hit with identical claims over the same two patents by Joao Control.
Three years ago, Joao Control targeted 12 adult live-cam operators, including GameLink, over U.S. Patent No. 7,277,010. The claims against the 12 companies were eventually settled.
The Digital Playground suit seeks an injunction, damages and attorneys fees, among other claims.
