CHATSWORTH, Calif. — With the release of "Fifty Shades of Grey: A XXX Adaptation" just a month away, Smash Pictures have decided that they are not ready to close the book on Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, the young couple at the heart of E.L James' erotic book trilogy.
Smash Pictures Vice President Stuart Wall announced today that the studio has green-lit a sequel to its three-in-one "Fifty Shades" parody that will center solely on re-imaging the events found in James' third book "Fifty Shades Freed."
"With the books being so long there was only so much we could include in the first volume," Wall told XBIZ. "We covered as much as we could from the first two volumes. The new parody will only focus on 'Freed.'"
Wall said that the staggering amount of pre-orders he's received for "Fifty Shades of Grey: A XXX Adaptation" also made the decision to produce a follow-up a no-brainer.
"In all my 20 years of working in the adult industry, I have never seen a response to a film like this," Wall said. "Our 'Fifty Shades of Grey: a XXX Adaption' has hit record numbers for us. Phone calls from all around the world are pre-booking this in anticipation."
Allie Haze and Ryan Driller will reprise their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, as will those playing recurring characters. Jim Powers is once again attached to direct.
"Fifty Shades of Grey: a XXX Adaptation" is set to street on Sept. 20. The spoof's hardcore trailer can be seen here.
