The site, which was founded in 2001 as a partnership between Michael Gardner (MikeAI) and Sege Birbair, was purchased by GonZo and Nick in 2004 in an undisclosed deal. Both men ran the site for nearly two years until GonZo announced the completion of the deal that left him in sole possession of the site.
Founded as a kind of think-tank for adult webmasters, the site will likely maintain its overall look and direction, while trying to grow its appeal.
I hope to expand the reach of the site by encouraging an exchange of information for anyone that is interested in the adult industry,” GonZo said. “Big or small, we want them all.”
According to GonZo, Oprano will be continue to be a place for webmasters to learn all they can and build important business contacts.
GonZo has been involved in the online adult business since 1993 in various capacities. He worked for a year managing Oprano properties OpranoRadio.com, OpranPlus.com and the flagship site, prior to launching his bid for ownership. He is also the owner of Gonzo.com.
"We believe the community defines the board itself,” GonZo said. “So we're just trying to kick it back to the day where things used to be more about cooperative marketing and where people helped each other out, had a little fun and made some money."
