Adam & Eve Survey Asks About Faked Orgasms

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A new Adam&Eve.com survey asks adults if they’ve ever faked an orgasm.

More than 1,000 respondents participated in the questioning conducted by an independent third party.

The company said that while 77 percent of men denied ever faking it, 47 percent of the women admitted they faked it on occasion. Their reasons ranged from “it just wasn’t going to happen” (35 percent), to “I didn’t want to hurt my partner’s feelings (23 percent) and “I wanted it to be over” (13 percent).

Other explanations included “I was tired” (7 percent), “I was bored” (4 percent), and “I was uncomfortable” (3 percent).

Adam & Eve’s resident sex expert, Dr. Kat Van Kirk, said that although these figures don’t surprise her, they are disappointing.

“It’s disheartening to see that women are still unable to ask for what they want and need in the bedroom,” Dr. Kat said.

She added, “Communication is the key to sexual happiness, and I would encourage women to be both more vocal and unapologetic with their needs. Many men, in fact, find this arousing.”

The survey was part of the company's ongoing study of sexual preferences and practices.

“Adam & Eve encourages every American adult to explore and enjoy a healthy sex life. With sales results showing more women customers than ever purchasing from adameve.com, we are hopeful women are gaining confidence in asking for what they want,” Chad Davis, director of marketing said.
