Webmasters Again Accuse IBill of Billing Irregularities

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — Troubled third-party biller iBill is once again attracting attention from angry adult webmasters, who are trying to navigate the company’s switch to Etelegate.com as its gateway for billing.

A recent post on GFY.com accused iBill of billing canceled accounts after the company outsourced its billing processing to Arizona-based Etelegate.com.

In a post titled “IBill is ‘carding old members’ databases,” Kandah warned webmasters that Etelegate was attempting to bill old rebills from the iBill database. A similar post from Adonis warned of the same practice.

“We’ve taken some flack from webmasters who don’t understand the nature of our arrangement with iBill,” Scott Price, director of operations for Etelegate, told XBIZ. “We licensed our gateway, our software to iBill. IBill merchants are still iBill merchants.”

According to Price, the three-year-old company handles similar technology billing functions for a number of third-party billers that service adult webmasters. Price added that Etelegate has had very few problems with iBill accounts.

“If we got hundreds or thousands of complaints, we would look into the matter because there would be something wrong,” Price said. “But we think there are only a few problems here and there, which is normal. Those webmasters should take up their complaints with iBill.”

IBill President Gary Spaniak would not comment on the billing problems to XBIZ, saying that all billing had been outsourced to Etelegate and that they were “handling it.”

According to Price, Etelegate received iBill’s entire billing database for historical purposes. However, the status of any of the accounts in that database was a matter between the client and iBill, Price said.
