LOS ANGELES — Dreamgirl International has received its recognition award from Spencer Gifts/Spirit Halloween for being a Platinum Sponsor in support of its The Spirit of Children Charity.
Dreamgirl CEO Christopher Scharff personally took up the cause to raise the donations and awareness on behalf of the successful program. Scharff decided to have Dreamgirl embark on the fundraising again in 2012 after previously touring the hospitals and seeing how the children excitedly responded to the parties and gifted costumes.
“This is the third year Dreamgirl has taken up the cause with The Spirit of Children and we could not be happier with the generosity of everyone who contributed during our fund raising efforts," Scharff said. “Our factories, employees and business partners were wonderful to participate and we are grateful of their continued support. It’s incredibly rewarding to see a severely sick child light up and smile when they are able to play and for a moment not worry about being sick in the hospital.”
The Spirit of Children is a program that brings fun and funding to hospitals at Halloween and all year long. The charity is focused on children’s hospitals because they need help to make the child’s experience less scary. The program started six years ago with 11 hospitals and the belief that a great holiday should do great good.
The Sprit of Children has raised more than $7 million in cash and merchandise donations since 2006 and has expanded with over 120 children's hospitals across the United States and Canada during the 2011 season. Every dollar donated goes directly to the hospitals.
