LONDON — Johnny Anglais, the former East London high school teacher exposed as an adult performer by students in 2011, has been voted out of Britain's long-running reality show "Big Brother."
Anglais — real name Benedict Garrett — joined season 13 of the popular reality program earlier this month to much fanfare. However, his aggressive disposition and recent admission to masturbating in the communal house shower quickly led to making him the show's third departure.
Anglais was the head of personal, social, and health education at Beal High School in Ilford from 2008 up until 2011, when students caught wind of his X-rated exploits online and informed administrators.
The General Teaching Council found Anglais guilty of unprofessional conduct and demanded that he abandon his porn and escorting ventures if he was to continue teaching. Anglais refused and instead went on to become an activist for sex worker rights and sexual education.
"Big Brother" is a reality-competition program in which a group of people are isolated from the outside world by being made to live together in a house rigged with cameras that document their behavior and interactions with one another — often to outrageous results.
