HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Eric Red, the screenwriter behind the classic horror films "The Hitcher" and "Near Dark," has published his first novel, an erotic thriller titled "Don't Stand So Close," available July 1from SST Publications.
"Don't Stand So Close" tells the story of Matt Poe, a handsome 17-year-old Iowa transplant who gets into a physical relationship with beautiful high school teacher Linda Hayden. Unfortunately for Matt, Linda isn't the schoolboy fantasy she appears to be and terrible things will soon be learned.
"From the very first time I read 'Don’t Stand So Close,' I was hooked. It’s excellently written, erotic, exciting, and compelling," publisher Paul Fry said via press release. "Eric Red’s writing is very descriptive and atmospheric, and once the book has you in its grip, it’s very hard to let go.”
"Don't Stand So Close" will be made available on hardback, paperback and eBook. Red's additional screenwriting credits include Kathryn Bigelow's ("Hurt Locker") 1989 cat-and-mouse thriller "Blue Steele," starring Jamie Lee Curtis and the 1991 serial killer gem "Body Parts," which Red also directed.
