LOS ANGELES — XBIZ TV on Friday debuted an exclusive new video interview with adult film star James Deen.
The 26-year-old native of Pasadena, Calif., talks about going from a job at Starbucks to becoming one of the top performers in the adult entertainment industry in an eventful career that began in 2004.
Deen recalls when he first saw porn thinking “this is the coolest thing in the world.”
“I just remember thinking this is a job,” Deen says. “Somebody needs to be that guy whose penis is hard inside of that girl in this picture. And I could be that guy.”
Some 2,000-plus sex scenes later, he has become “that guy” and also won numerous industry awards for it.
“I’ve always been a hyper-sexual. It kind of makes sense,” Deen says matter-of-factly.
Deen’s national profile has skyrocketed in 2012, thanks in part to being the first choice of notorious writer Bret Easton Ellis to be the lead actor in a feature film that’s in development in Hollywood. Ellis wrote the screenplay and made his casting preference known via Twitter, sparking a friendship with Deen.
Deen this year has also been featured on ABC News’ “Nightline” and in the New York Observer, not to mention upcoming interviews that will appear in GQ and Rolling Stone.
And he remains one of the busiest guys in porn, performing more than 20 times a month with a schedule that’s usually booked solid several weeks in advance. Is he keeping track of all his conquests?
“I’ve never been a notch in the bedpost kind of guy,” Deen says.
