NEW DELHI, India — Producers of Sunny Leone's upcoming Bollywood film debut "Jism 2" announced today that they will be auctioning off wardrobe used in the film to raise money for PETA.
Among the items up for bid will be the sexy red lingerie worn by Leone (pictured) in the film about a beautiful and shameless seductress caught in an intense love triangle with two strong-willed men.
Director/producer Pooja Bhatt told IndiaTimes.com, "I am auctioning Sunny, Randeep and Arunoday's entire wardrobe down to their underwear for charity. Taking one's clothes off has never been so noble!"
Bhatt's announcement is raising a few eyebrows in India, where conservative minded citizens are viewing the auction of Leone's unmentionables as distasteful.
"Why should we have anything against a beautiful lingerie," Bhatt countered. "Hollywood stars auction their lingerie. It's a done thing. There is a huge market for these. Given a chance, I'd love to buy Javier Bardem's undergarments in an auction."
Bhatt plans to hold the auction online before the film's release on July 27. Each item purchased will include an autographed photo of the actor who wore it and a certificate of authenticity.
