The show, which will be broadcast via cable and satellite in the U.S. and U.K., will follow American porn stars as they compete with leading British actors to see who has the most dramatic talent.
According to Fox Reality CEO David Lyle, many adult film stars think they can act, but the challenge of “My Bare Lady” will be to see if they can survive in a refined English acting school.
The fish-out-of-water experiment will begin in Los Angeles with an open casting call for porn stars who want to hone the dramatic side of their craft. An established, but as yet unnamed, British theater director will make his cuts from among the women who audition. The contestants will then film three hour-long episodes in London, where they will go through intense theatrical schooling to determine an overall winner.
The show will be produced for Fox by Zig Zag Productions.
“We look forward to working with this great British production company and creating an ambitious docu-soap,” Lyle said. “It is a wonderful concept to have a production that shoots on both sides of the Atlantic, highlighting a humorous and all-too-real culture clash.”
While major broadcast networks like Fox have traditionally shied away from any affiliation with adult entertainment, cable operators have made a handsome profits with shows like HBO’s “Pornucopia” and Showtime’s “Family Business.”
