LELO SenseMotion Tiani Wins Red Dot Design Award 2012

STOCKHOLM/SAN JOSE — Swedish designer brand LELO has won the international Red Dot Design Award 2012 for the LELO Tiani, the first remote-controlled couples’ massager to respond to motion-sensor technology, where vibrations are created through movements of the remote.

The award was announced on March 14.

Red Dot-winning products are marked by exceptionality, for their high degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, self-explanatory quality, and ecological compatibility, the company said.

This year, a jury of the world’s leading design experts received more than 4,500 product submissions. As a Red Dot winner, the LELO Tiani now stands alongside the likes of past winners such as the Apple iPhone 4, BMW 5er Touring and Bose SoundDock.

“LELO is pleased and proud to be recognized globally as a leader in design with our revolutionary Couples Massager Tiani,” said Donna Faro, LELO North and South America director sales and marketing. “Receiving the prestigious Red Dot Award and to stand amongst the leading brands in the world is truly an honor. At LELO we believe that superior quality and highest design are the standards our customers deserve and we will continue to design products that are of excellence and desire.”

The Red Dot Awards are carried out in three disciplines: Product Design, Communication Design and Design Concept. In 2011 alone, more than 14,000 entries from more than 70 countries were registered in all three categories.

LELO representatives will attend the Red Dot Winners’ Gala at the Zollverein World Cultural Heritage Site in Essen, Germany on July 2 to formally accept the award. After the ceremony, LELO’s Tiani will secure a spot in the Red Dot design museum’s permanent exhibition for 2012 Product Design winners.
