HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm admits to having worked in porn in the April issue of Playboy magazine. But, fans needn't trip over themselves rushing to their nearest adult DVD store. Hamm's work occured behind the camera.
The 41-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of suave advertising executive Don Draper on AMC's Emmy-winning series "Mad Men," reveals to Playboy that he once took a job as a set dresser in adult films to pay the bills, a career he found to be "depressing."
Said Hamm, "I did set dressing on some soft-core porn films. That was hands down the worst. I was working on the crew from seven to seven, and it was horribly depressing. … I’m sure there are more terrible day jobs in L.A., but it’s definitely on the lower end of the spectrum of the wonder of moviemaking. It wasn’t even that much money, but it was money."
Hamm, who has been nominated for multiple Emmys and won a Golden Globe in 2007 for his role on "Mad Men," can currently be seen in the edgy relationship comedy "Friends with Kids."
