CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Smash Pictures announced its entry into the adult romance market today with its new "Forever Love" line.
The first title due out July 1 is “Forever Love: Trust.”
Smash vice president Stuart Wall told XBIZ the new brand can be likened to the feeling a young teen would get when reading Harlequin romance books.
“We’re diving in full force into the romance field with our 'Forever Love' brand. Each volume will have a different sub name starting with our initial film,” Wall said.
The impetus behind the new line, according to Wall, is the company’s focus on the broadcast market.
“Broadcast is a big portion of our profits and sales and this is one of the new series Playboy requested for us to shoot. With physical DVDs slowly dying, our strengths are all about broadcast, hotels, lodging and VOD,” Wall said.
He added, “Shooting romantic couples-oriented plots is what’s working for us as it appeals to both male and female viewers."
The cast for the inaugural shoot includes Phoenix Marie, Monica Rise, Lia Lor, Tasha Reign and a final star to be announced.
In addition, the studio said it will produce “Fabio book themes” using top male actors with acting skills including Richie, Anthony Rosano, Xander, Logan Pierce and new stud Will Evans.
The films will be directed by veteran Jim Powers and written by anonymous women to lend an air of mystery.
