Tommy Pistol Gets Distribution for Independent Film

LOS ANGELES — XBIZ Award-winning performer Tommy Pistol's first independent film, "The Gruesome Death of Tommy Pistol," has secured distribution and will be released on DVD on March 27 by Vicious Circle Films.

"I'm so excited," Pistol said. "It's a huge accomplishment."

Pistol, who won the 2012 XBIZ Award for Acting Performance of the Year for his lead role in the Pleasure Dynasty/Exile parody of "Taxi Driver," wrote, produced, directed and starred in "The Gruesome Death."

Billed as a "surreal horror comedy," the film is an extreme look at Pistol's failed attempt at Hollywood stardom. It made its world premiere in October at the PollyGrind Film Festival in Las Vegas and has garnered critical acclaim on the horror circuit.

Vicious Circle Films is the horror label of Breaking Glass Pictures, which last July released another horror film with an adult star as the lead called "Bloodlust Zombies," which featured Alexis Texas' independent film debut.

Pistol's 91-minute movie is gratuitously violent with plenty of dark humor and stomach-turning sequences. The project originated with his 19-minute short “Attack of the Staph Spider,” which won Most Disgusting Movie in 2009 at the Backseat Film Festival in Philadelphia. That inspired Pistol to turn the short into a feature-length film that he finished in February 2011.

The movie also features Mia Tyler, Caleb Emerson, John Kayrus, Vincent Cusimano, XBIZ Award-winning actress Kimberly Kane, former adult performer Gia Paloma and former porn producer Eon McKai. Adult industry vet Matt Holder did the cinematography.

"The Gruesome Death" was produced by Pistol and his wife Karen’s company Baby Yetti Productions. Director Brett Brando also helped Pistol during the early stages of the movie.

Pistol performed sketch comedy for 11 years in New York before debuting in adult with Burning Angel in 2003 and winning an industry newcomer award a year later.
