Gaydar Files WIPO Complaint Over GaydarCams.com

LONDON — QSoft Consulting, the parent company of U.K.'s most popular gay dating site, filed a complaint Thursday with WIPO arbitrators against the operator of GaydarCams.com, a live gay cam site.

QSoft, which operates Gaydar.co.uk with its reported 6.2 million registered users, said in its complaint that the cam site's name is too similar to its own.

The company also operates GaydarGirls.com, GaydarRadio.com, GaydarNation.com and others.

QSoft started operating the string of websites in November 1999 and has catapulted it as, the company puts it, " the largest gay lifestyle and dating site in both Australia and the U.K."

It also owns Profile and Lo-Profile, a bar and nightclub which are based in London’s Soho.

GaydarCams.com, which features live webcam models, is registered to a U.K. operator who uses a host in Tampa, Fla., to stream its content.

GaydarCams.com uses a website logo, including colors, similar to that of Gaydar.co.uk's.

GaydarCams.com's registered operator did not immediately respond to XBIZ for comment on the WIPO complaint.
