LONDON — Photos comissioned by Pop magazine featuring 16-year-old fashion model Hailey Clauson asphyxiated by an unidentifyed man and cavorting with a nude porn performer named Destiny have gotten panties in a bunch.
The provocative spread, shot by Tyrone Lebon and styled by Max Pearmain, made headlines Wednesday as it once again sparked arguments about the fashion industry’s need for stronger regulations when working with underage models.
Among the photographs causing the most outrage are those that find Clauson holding hands with an attractive and topless blonde porn starlet named Destiny; standing next to a less attractive, but fully nude middle-aged woman; and receiving the James Deen treatment at the hand of an unseen strangler.
Jezebel.com, which broke the story, described the Pop editorial as “the absolute creepiest shit we could imagine making a 16-year-old girl do to be in our magazine.” The complete spread can be seen at MaxPearmain.blogspot.com.
Clauson, who’s carried campaigns for Gucci, Mavi Jeans and Jill Stuart, began her career in modeling at the age of 14. Her first scandal came at the age of 15 when her parents filed a lawsuit — later dropped — against photographer Jason Lee Parry for licensing sexually charged images of Clauson to Urban Outfitters.
