In the episode, titled “Street,” Spelling wants to land the role of a tough prostitute in a gritty docudrama but can’t get an audition. Looking for a way in, she plans to tape an audition, and she and her friends go to the Pleasure Chest in West Hollywood to buy the appropriate props.
While shopping at the store, Spelling sees former co-star Shannon Dougherty and dives behind a counter of COLT dildos and assorted gear to avoid a confrontation. In a panic, she grabs a COLT Gear 14” Thruster with Metal Cord and clutches it to her chest.
COLT President and Creative Director John Rutherford said the company’s phones were ringing off the hook on Monday in response to the show.
“I was delighted to see the 14” Thruster featured on the show,” he told XBIZ. “It completely took us by surprise, but we’ve been getting a lot of inquiries from that showing. I guess the gay audience ratings just went 14 inches higher.”
Rutherford posted video from the show on his blog.
