Qwebec Expo to Host The Best Adult Awards 3

MONTREAL — Qwebec Expo will host the 3rd annual Best Adult Awards Ceremony in partnership with 2Much Internet, YNOT, Klixxx, XBiz and other sponsors on Aug. 26 at 9 p.m. during its webmasters’ event.

The Best Adult Awards honor the best adult websites, the webmasters who run them and the performers who make it all possible. Admission is free for Expo attendees.

“When we started the show, there were no awards for websites,” Best Adult Awards organizer Michael Plante told XBiz. “You had the XBiz Awards, but those were for the companies — the best hosting company, the best cash programs. But we focus on the sites, which lets us open it up and make room for everyone.”

In other words, creative is king.

Cash program and single site owners or staff can enter their own sites as well as their favorite sites or personalities for consideration in more than 15 categories, including best amateur, anal, fetish, reality and affiliate program awards, among others.

A complete list of categories can be found and nominations can be made at BestAdultAwards.com. The nomination period is April 5 to July 5.

Plante said there were 36 categories in the show’s first year, and that was simply too many.

“The show was too fast paced,” he said. “So last year, we paired it down.”

How did the organizers decide which categories to drop?

“We let people vote,” Plante explains. “I always say: It’s their show, not ours. We just put it together. So we wanted to let people take part in choosing the categories. We put up polls on popular boards, let people tell us which categories to keep and dropped the ones with the lowest numbers of entries.”

In order to be considered for the Best Adult Awards, a website must have been in general use for at least part of calendar year 2005 and 2006. The person submitting the entry will be considered the "nominator" and will receive all communications regarding voting and the ceremony.

Nominees will be announced July 12 with judging to begin in July and continue throughout August. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.

Plante said industry professionals interested in being a judge for the Best Adult Awards show can apply on the website. Fifteen to 20 judges will be selected; judges cannot vote on categories in which they or their company have a nominated website.

Judges will have their photo, short bio and a link to their site posted on the judges page of the Best Adult Awards website.

Plante added that sponsorship opportunities are still available.
