CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Private Media Group today sued the operators of PornoXO.com, a Seychelles-based website that is alleged to have poached and streamed 28 Private titles on its adult tube site.
Private seeks $4.2 million from parent company Sky Alliance Group Inc., whose PornoXO tube site is one of the Internet's top draws, ranking No. 1,180 on website ranking service Alexa.
According to Private's copyright suit, PornoXO is a "one-stop shop for infringing material" that sells premium memberships and pays third parties to send traffic to its websites.
"Most, if not all, a very large portion of the content indexed on or available on the website is infringing, unauthorized copyrighted content, including [Private's] copyrighted works," the suit said. "The fundamental purpose of the website is to capitalize on the illegal dissemination and contribute to the illegal dissemination of infringing works.
"This display and distribution provides defendant PornoXO with significant monthly revenues and hinders [Private's] rightful ability to derive financial benefits from their own films."
Some of the Private films allegedly poached and streamed, according to the suit, include "Sex, Lies & Internet," "Cleopatra" and "Beauties in the Tropix," among others.
The suit, filed at federal court in Iowa, seeks an injunction, damages and a transfer of the PornoXO domain and any derivations of it.
Company representatives from both Private and Sky Alliance were not available for comment to XBIZ by post time.
