MUMBAI, India — Adult star Sunny Leone is raising eyebrows in India over her scheduled Nov. 21 appearance on "Bigg Boss 5," a popular reality TV show.
Reports said Leone’s heritage — she is Indian-Canadian and born to a Punjabi family in Ontario — is adding fuel to the fire.
The 30-year-old star is reportedly following in the footsteps of Pamela Anderson who caused controversy when she appeared on a prior show.
Speculation was that pop star Shakira and fighter Mike Tyson would have appeared on the show, but are now doubtful because of Leone’s entry.
Leone is expected to land in Mumbai tonight.
"I can't wait to meet everyone and see how things work out," Leone said. "I'm sure I'll love some of the other contestants, but if there is friction, I think my background in adult entertainment will help me not to hold back on anything."
It’s not clear if Leone will become a regular or just a guest. A source told the Times of India, "We can't confirm whether she will stay for long or just for two-three days. All we can say is she is coming to participate in Bigg Boss.”
"There are two single men — Akshdeep Saigal and Siddarth and one married man — Amar Upadhyay, who are currently in the house. Sunny's entry into the house will definitely help to generate some drama and excitement for viewers," the source said.
Acclaimed Bollywood director Mohit Suri reportedly approached Leone about a part in “Kalyug,” his film about the burgeoning porn industry, but the role was snagged by Indian model Deepal Shaw.
