WAKEFIELD, U.K. — Planet Earth CEO Paul Boote has completed Florida’s Iron Man distance event, raising a total of £1,287 ($1,506 USD) for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
The Iron Man event is a triathlon that consists of a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and 26 mile run. Boote completed his challenge in 12 hours 22 minutes and 41 seconds.
“I am over the moon with this year's result and I’m pleased to have raised so much money for the Prostate Cancer Charity,” Boote said. “My target was to raise £2,000 ($3,185 USD) for the charity, which I will do as I have pledged to make up the difference but for anyone who hasn’t sponsored me to date I would really appreciate your support."
Despite several injuries in preparation for the event, Boote is determined to continue supporting the charity. He is expected to compete in the Iron Man Copenhagen on Aug. 12, 2012 and Iron Man distance challenge in France the following week.
