SHANGHAI — Porn video clips were played for 10 minutes on a massive LED billboard in the city of Wenzhou in China’s Zhejiang Province on Wednesday.
According to ShanghaiDaily, the snafu was reportedly caused by a local advertising company employee who was watching the videos on his computer, unaware that it was linked to the outdoor screen.
A large crowd gathered in the busiest section of town to watch the outdoor porn on the billboard that normally played car commercials.
One official with the local administration for industry and commerce said it is difficult to monitor ads on LED screens.
The employee was only charged with disturbing the peace because it wasn’t proven that he intentionally aired the clip.
One report said authorities may have made a backroom "plea bargain" because possessing porn in China is illegal.
